Good eye for a young tailor.

“Ben has a good eye for the style and make of a suit. I went in Jan and had a rough idea of what I looked for. He then proceeds to make recommendations on what is a modern fit. Managed to get a good fit right the first time. Happy with the final product and will recommend if you want a good custom fitting suit.”

    Benjamin was very professional

Benjamin was very professional and has a lot of knowledge about suit-making, which he was most willing to share. When I ask for suitable fabrics, he let me have a good feel for the materials that would be most suitable for me and went the extra mile in giving me choices about everything from buttons to pockets. He also gave me choices that would be considered highly unusual but turned out exceedingly well in making the suit. A key point is that he was willing to take the client's needs into consideration when making recommendations. He recommended light and durable materials which is appropriate for the hot and humid weather in Singapore and can be used for frequent wear. All in all, it was a good experience and I would recommend his services."

    Take a leap of faith

I was looking for a new tailor, browsing online, reading comments and emerged none the wiser. Honestly, how do we know the reviews are factual, relevant, self-reviewed or not smacked-down from a sore competition? After all our 'research', we still choose the ONE based on : 1. a gut feeling the tailor is good 2. a gut feeling the tailor is cheap and good 3. a gut feeling the tailor is cheap, cater to your demands, has an accessible location, blah blah blah and good All the above stated are relative to individuals. What's good for me, might not be good for you. Be realistic and open minded. Made-Suits are good. And they are not cheap (for me). Expect to pay SGD1500 for a well-made suit (a jacket and a pants). Sometimes they have some fabric promos, but that's roughly their prices. Fabric selections are aplenty, appointments are scheduled, and you have full attention from Tailor Ben during your meeting (his full glass door will be locked). Location is central, and the store is a cosy built-up of jazzy, rustic charm. You will discover little details in the store, little extra 'tools', which all add up greatly to give an elevated experience. Ben is young and still discovering life, but that's doesn't make him any lesser of a good tailor. You kickoff with a getting-to-know-you discussion, your work, your requirements blah blah blah. Then Ben asks you your budget - cut to the chase, great! He will let you in on the price of different fabrics and you will quickly realise nothing is 'cheap'. At this point, you might want to walk away or 'grudgingly' continue. Bless you if you do, because you are halfway to a well-made suit. A good suit starts from a good measure, and Ben is detailed in that aspect. After finalising more details - buttons, button holes, live button hole, hemming, lapels style, inner lining, pockets etc., you are done. Payment made, hole burnt and you will be home waiting and hoping the end product is beautiful. With much anticipation, I returned weeks later to receive my suits (I did mine during the covid-19 period, there was considerable downtime). I put on the newly tailored white shirt first... when Ben slipped on my jacket, tada! The fit is amazing. As I slowly looked through the details on my suit, I can only agree, this is one damn well-made suit

    Honest Review of Made Suits

Alright just so people know where my experience and understanding of suit making is at. I have never bought off the rack, save maybe one really ideal fitting blazer, and have had several suits done in the past in Shanghai at the famed Fabric Market which do make custom measured suits. Which, to their credit, do a fairly passable and great job if value and bang for your buck and cost is an issue. At the time it was as it was during my budding professional career. Now, I had reached a more important milestone which was finding the love of my life and now needing a suit for the wedding and wedding photo shoots. I do not write reviews ever but I am an extremely detailed and meticulous when it comes to self purchases, investments, etc. And this time around I wasn't settling and wanted a premium suit matching of the time and occasion. I had scoured the internet and various people for referrals and knowledge on where is a great place to get a suit. Be it Edit Suits, Bespoke Tailor, Q menswear, etc. But through the extensive research something felt right about Made Suits. To be honest, from there on out it was great and we (my fiancé and I) could not be more happy with my choice. Ben may be young but he is passionate and knows his craft. He was also equally detailed but struck a great balance of informing of his recommendations but also catering to my certain quirks or tastes. Another great sign of a bespoke tailor, they won't make excuses or say its because your body shape is this, hence, the suit has this type of shape. Ben maps it out but ensures the suit fits the man. I may not know the ins n outs or various styles or lapels, etc which Ben gave me insight to, but I know when a suit fits and when I like it. Lastly, sure I needed another fitting to make it perfect but Ben was more than obliging and also was super considerate and rushed to do so in order for me to look like my very best for the photoshoot that we had scheduled in Seoul and it was literally down to the wire, but he did so for which we're really grateful. So, thanks Ben and thanks to Made Suits for all the compliments I got not just from the in-laws and her friends but the photographer, stylists and helpers tending to my bride to be (which unknowingly to me she helped translate the compliments that came my way). Will definitely come again to see Ben whenever I need another suit or trousers or anything bespoke for that matter
