The Part-Timer - Alvian & Sylvia Singapore Wedding
by Kairos Works

Updated on 28 November 2017, Singapore

Hearing their story kind of brings me a funny feeling inside. It is like watching a Korean drama or something that makes you feel so “awww…..” while you have puppy-eyes and a big part of you just want to watch it more and more. Yeah, this is the kind of story that I like the most. Extraordinary! So… Alvian runs a restaurant in Singapore. Amongst his employees and customers, he is known as a very humble and kind hearted guy. Not just like other people who run their businesses just to get profit, but rather, he runs his business with his heart. There was a moment that he was just glancing at his emails, screening and just reading the important ones. But there was an email, sitting there, from a person he never knew before, submitting a position for a part time job. But he did not pay any attention to it at that time. Time went by, and that time he needed help in his restaurant and he remembered the email that he skipped that time. He asked his assistant to call this person and arrange an interview. Yeah, it’s predictable, that person was Sylvia. From the beginning of the interview, he realized Sylvia was different. She was very strong-willed, independent, but innocent at the same time. At that time, she instantly knew that he needed her to be in the team. In the end of that interview, like a common interview session, he asked her is there anything that she wanted to ask about this job. She politely asked many questions, but the last question made me frowned. She asked who Alvian was and what his position was in this restaurant. First Alvian thought that this was just a question that someone randomly ask in the interview. He knew that she honestly ha no intention whatsoever in asking this question. He simply answered, “I am a part timer same as you.”, replied with a nod. She believed that and asked no further questions. Finally, Sylvia joined the team and worked there as a part timer. As Alvian had suspected from the beginning, Sylvia worked very hard and was a perfectionist. It seemed like she brought the best in her to do this job like no one was watching. Most of the time, Alvian served his clients by himself, and it meant that he would spend more time with Sylvia. There were no barriers between Sylvia and Alvian as a co worker, since although months goes by, Sylvia still believe that Alvian is a part timer like her self. But with this situation, Alvian had a chance to get to know Sylvia better. He knew the true Sylvia without any hidden intention. Until this part, you know why I said this story is as interesting as a Korean drama, right? You can imagine, every scene and plot in that restaurant was such a plot for a drama.
