How Does a Moment Last Forever - Marcel & Vini Wedding
by Kairos Works

Updated on 17 November 2017, Jakarta

I wrote this story while I was in Sydney. Sitting in a small square table in my little and messy apartment that I rented from a very nice guy here. After having breakfast, I started to open up my laptop and see what could inspire me that morning. Next to me as a wooden window, a typical classic one that requires you to push it down or pull it up with both of your hands to close or open it. It was a very beautiful spring weather, the wind was not too strong and the sky was perfectly blue. Something caught my attention that morning. There were two lovebirds on the edge of a church’s roof in front of my apartment. They perched there for a little while. It was so beautiful, they were like dancing. Every gesture and movement they made were like for each other. When one of them moved, the other one would follow. The one time, one of them made a little jump, and the other jumped as well. When one made little steps forward, the other one would make the steps too. And why is this scene so beautiful? Because it happened t a church, a beautiful St. Canice Catholic Church that has been sitting there from 1889. What a beautiful sight! Seeing this beautiful scene suddenly reminded me of a beautiful Holy Matrimony that I captured months ago. I've stood there often for holy matrimonies in beautiful churches before, seeing beautiful couples saying their vows to each other, and blessed by God and people. But there is a matrimony that is so picturesque to be captured, just like what happened on that morning in Sydney. I remember it was a very beautiful morning in Jakarta, when Marcel was standing there in a front of St. Yakobus Church, seeing his soon-to-be wife, Vini, getting out from the wedding car with her face still beautifully covered by the white veil. Marcel could not stop his tears from falling down when his heart knew that was it, that was the beginning of the life that he had been waiting for. In front of that gate, Vini’s father gave his daughter’s hand to Marcel to hold, a symbolism of trust and blessing. I'll never forget about that moment. And when they both walked down the aisle, straight forward to the altar, it was a beautiful sight. The sun was shining on them through the glass at the ceiling of the church and it went like that for the whole of matrimony. For a moment, I was standing there in silence, and astonishing by the view that lavishly attended. The reception was also beautiful. I cannot forget when “How does a moment last forever” by Celine Dion was played to accompany them on their first dance with a beautifully, well choreographed Austrian Waltz dance. That day, we were so blessed with a lot of beautiful things happenning. Best Artha
