In every bride-to-be's ideal world, the day of the wedding will look and feel exactly the way she has imagined it to be. Everything will run smoothly, everyone will be on time and nothing will go out of plan. We call that the ideal situation because in reality, the perfect wedding where not a single thing goes wrong does not really happen. In fact, a few hiccups here and there are almost inevitable. But, hearing that – we still cannot help ourselves but to want to make everything as perfect as possible, right? It has to… because to some of us, the day of the wedding means a whole lot more than just an event and if something goes wrong, it can totally ruin the moment. However, is it actually wise and good for us when we have such high expectations of what our wedding should look like? Will we be able to actually enjoy our wedding when we worry because we have to have everything perfect? Events like weddings tend to be steeped with lots of "should". In this article we would like to talk about how as brides-to-be, we might need to adjust our expectations on what the perfect wedding should be like.

Get some perspective

Remember the reason why you are having a wedding in the first place – to marry your fiancé and celebrate it with the people that you love! The minute you start seeing the wedding day as way more than just the day you and your partner get to be married, you are automatically allowing yourself to get sucked in to stress and overthinking things you should not be thinking about during your big day. A lot of us find the wedding day and planning process to be so stressful anyway because there are so many variables and things that can go ‘wrong’. This is exactly why worrying about things not going right will not do us any good. Unless something actually does prevent you from having your ceremony and marrying the person you love, then anything else that does not go according to plan does not have to ‘ruin’ the whole day for you. Tell yourself that whatever happens on the day, the most important thing is that you got married. You will save yourself a whole lot of wedding day stress by just letting go a little bit.

Your wedding is special and is there to create a lot of wonderful memories for you to take into your marriage, but that will not be possible if you do not learn to let go and not sweat the small stuff. When you learn to enjoy the imperfections of your wedding, you are ridding yourself the possibility of becoming a bitter and stressed out bride. You will feel and be much more at ease, relaxed and able to really enjoy the moments of your wedding day. Do not let anything get in the way of your happiness on your wedding day. A happy bride is the most beautiful bride after all.
