PYARA was established in 2011 by a collective of business school graduates Martinus Sudharta, Evan Sirawan, and Carol Kuntjoro. The three friends decided to combine their business acumen and photography, a passion that they happened to share.

Initially based in Surabaya, PYARA soon expanded their business to serve even more customers in Bali and even worldwide. Despite having so many customers, they don't feel any less grateful whenever a couple chooses to entrust PYARA with their wedding photos. In fact, seeing so much love firsthand has driven the team to inspire more couples with beautiful pictures and innovative concepts.

The name PYARA, which comes from the Sanskrit word for "love", was chosen to represent the photographers' signature style. They always strive to show the honest side of every couple by taking pictures that truly reflect their personal love stories. This explains why PYARA always captures raw and artistic, even blurry, yet intimate photos of couples instead of sleek, flawless editorial-style photos.

For PYARA, every relationship is precious. Sometimes, many couples forget about the romantic sparks they used to have. That's why PYARA wants to help every couple remember all the feelings they shared in the past. "Both of our artists are hopelessly romantic. We always seek something special in life, as clichéd as that may sound. We always tell our clients that the pictures we take are not for them, they are for their future selves and their children or grandchildren, so they will know that both of their parents or grandparents were really in love with each other."
