Davy Linggar's love of photography started at a young age, and was further intensified through two unfinished art school stints in Bandung, Indonesia and Essen, Germany. He also worked as a reporter and black-and-white film developer before deciding to explore his art further by doing commercial work in 2001.
Over time, he developed a strong reputation and a signature, unmistakably Davy Linggar photography style. His experience in street photography gave him a certain edge and an effortless, raw style that shows his subjects just the way they are.
Davy considers wedding photography to be particularly interesting. "There are many things that can be explored in wedding photography. The results are based on the character of each couple. Even if they aren't used to posing in front of the camera, their inner souls will add a sense of originality to the pictures," he explains.
According to Davy, couples should not simply follow trends or other people's opinions when deciding on a wedding photographer. They must be sure that they can appreciate the work and character of the photographer they chose. That's why, Davy always takes time to carefully observe and ask potential clients about why they chose him in the first place. This way, he can be sure that his photographs will be truly satisfying for both himself and the couple.
One wedding moment that is dear to his heart is the time when his close friend, textile designer Chitra Subyakto had a destination wedding. Held in Paro, Bhutan, this intimate wedding was filled with elements of Bhutanese culture and merry festivities that were simply unforgettable.
