Rajawali and Aderina, known as Raja and Rina, were what the Japanese called "osananajimi" or childhood friends. Raja was the first to develop special feelings for the beautiful Rina, and after five unsuccessful dinner invitations due to their unsynchronized schedule, the sixth turned out to be a charm and the rest is history. No proposal was needed when it came to these two as they were so sure about each other, they just knew when it was time to take it to a more serious phase. Raja and Rina always knew that they wanted an intimate wedding with their closest ones. Hence 120 guests was their final count and they decided to have the celebration in their own home.
Their Indonesian and Japanese mixed heritage ensured that these lovebirds' wedding was truly one of a kind. As expected, Raja and Rina embraced their cultural roots, bearing one unique multicultural wedding. A classic white kebaya was worn for the akad, followed by a pink kebaya and suntiang worn to embrace Rina's Sumatran heritage. Pictures of them wearing traditional wedding kimono were especially poignant, as the kimono were family heirlooms that reflected the respect they had for their Japanese cultural roots.
As if Japanese and Minang culture weren't merry enough, the couple added a rustic theme to tie the whole thing together. Tin cans filled with flowers, succulent & jam favors, naked cakes and dusty pink, off white, forest green, and marsala hues, successfully built the rustic romantic mood. The celebration was a success. Close friends of the bride and groom made speeches that brought tears to the newlyweds and Raja closed it off with an impromptu speech in Japanese that touched Rina's heart. It was an unforgettable night and Rina loved that it was as intimate as it was. "A wedding does not have to be grand as the size is not what matters. It's about the people we know and know us, it's about sharing that precious moment together."
Terralogical, who turned out to be friends with Raja, captured the entire story from start to end. Take a look right below.
