Engagement | Hendry & Irene - An Adventure in Kiwi Land
by The Wagyu Story

Updated on 13 November 2017

“People that are meant to be together always find each other in the end.” ~ Anonymous Hendry and Irene have known each other since high school. Not only they are from the same school, but they also shared the same tuition teacher. And they used to hate each other. So much that it showed in Irene’s coldness towards Hendry. So much that Hendry came home one day after tuition and told his mom “I don’t ever want a wife like Irene.” His mom told him “Be careful of what you wish for… sometimes when you hate someone that much, you might end up with her.” True enough… Love happens a few years later when they met each other again in San Jose, California. And we are blessed to travel to New Zealand with them to capture their 100% love relationship, yes…. no more hate… just pure love ;p Hendry & Irene chose to engage us for our getaway package. It’s called Pâtisserie des Rêves, a 5-day photography coverage at your chosen destination. Suitable for couples who love to travel and explore on a road trip with us, at the same time do their engagement or honeymoon photo shoots! =) In New Zealand, we had a wonderful time traveling around South Island. And a miracle happened during our trip. On our way to Milford Sound, our newly rented 3 hour old RV broke down… right at the tip of the mountain top. The battery went totally dead on us. There was no phone reception, no one on the road at all, and it was dark. After what it seemed like forever, a car passed by… we waved, we screamed.. hoping he might notice… but he just drove off. 5 minutes later, the same car came back, apparently he almost missed seeing us…and had to go through a few one way bridges down the road before finding a place for a U turn. We were relieved, at least someone was there to help us. After trying this and that, the RV still didn’t want to start. The guys decided that they should “crash the car” = putting the car in 2nd gear, driving it down the hill, releasing the clutch, and hitting the break when the engine starts (remember we’re at the tip of the mountain facing down). I personally had no idea what was going on… I didn’t even know what “crash the car” means, until then. Luckily Tata – he was the one who drove the RV, knew what he was doing. I would just maybe wait till it turned daylight and pray that someone would save us. It was a risky decision, but we had no choice, the weather was getting colder and the wind was getting a lot stronger. We prayed before we crashed it. Thank God the RV started to wake up, but the guy who helped us said “Don’t go for any more stops, this RV is not going to start again if you stop.” Keeping that in mind, we drove extremely careful… because we still had 30 more kilometers to go. I kept counting down to the distance to go… the lesser the number, the noisier the RV got. And when we reach zero km, we got lost. The place was really dark. After asking around here and there, we found our reserved RV carpark. The moment we parked the RV, the RV broke down. And this time, even the dashboard lights were out, it went completely dead on us. But thank God, it broke down at the right time and place. We then were able to plug in the electricity from the carpark. So we could cook dinner and stay warm throughout the night. http://www.thewagyustory.com/blog/hendry-irene-engagement/
