The Luminari Internal Workshop Retreat

As photographers, we need to constantly improve our skill set to deliver the best images to our client. In December, we set off for our first internal workshop amidst our busy December wedding calendar. This workshop was 6 months in the making and we needed the excuse to go for a quick holiday workshop. The venue was set in scenic Penang as we could not travel far due to time constraints. When we arrived, we were greeted by torrential rains due to the crazy monsoon season that hits South East Asia between Nov and Jan. Thankfully, our shoot was scheduled for the next day and we retreated to our comfy hotel beds. smile emoticon Day 2: We had decided on a nature shoot. The day began great, and we set off from the hotel after preparations were done. Guided by trust ol’Google Maps, we eventually ended up lost as our driver could not understand directions! After 1 hour of going round in circles, we finally arrived at our destination. Just as we arrived, it started to drizzle. Not wasting anytime, we commenced our shoot. However, as fate would have it, the batteries got wet in the rain and our flash could not fire. We had no choice but to go all natural on lights, making the best use of ambient lighting to light our model. The drizzle eventually went on to develop into a full blown thunderstorm. It was a sign for us to head back to town for some delicious Penang Chat Kway Teow and wrap up our shoot.
