Her Hand in Marriage
by TheCameraBank

Updated on 03 November 2017

A man of few words is a reservoir of emotions. It was unquestionably a pleasure working alongside Nicholas for his proposal preparation. As a man of few words (as described by himself), my task was to elevate that obstacle and to transform his intangible love into an exclusive story for the two; one they would remember. This project was undertaken in two countries, Singapore and Indonesia, including many places and an abundance of props; you name it. Conceptualised alongside our partner, Nicholas, the story of this sweet couple can never get better. First up, Nicholas was tasked to relive his romantic journey with Illene. The story is accompanied by snippets of his memory alongside a bunny (representing Illene), followed by a series of humble encounters with Illene's parents and guardian. For Nicholas, it is mandatory for him to receive blessings and well wishes from the female's family before officially asking for her hand, no matter where they are or how inconvenient it may be; how heartwarming right? And of course, who would've expected him to secretly make his way down to the deep heartlands of Indonesia to request blessings for her hand in marriage? Indeed, that was the point. Besides arranging for a meet up with Illene's guardian residing in Singapore, we made our 7 hours journey down to Jambi, Indonesia, where we will meet Illene's parents. To end it off, we decided to utilise written words to express the true feelings of Nicholas; a man of few words, rather than speaking - setting the perfect mood and context where he can now finally pull off all his feelings before popping the question. Now, why don't we share the work and let the film do the talking...
