A summer wedding
by Gunners' Barracks

Updated on 12 September 2017, Sydney, NSW, Australia

I first met the lovely Donna and Tim at One Fine Day in 2013 where they were gathering ideas for their big day. Originally from England, the couple planned an intimate weekday wedding for summer 2014 with a lot of their guests making the trip from overseas to celebrate at The Tearoom at Gunners Barracks. Donna asked to have flowers with a ‘beautiful romantic feel’ using soft pinks and white, with some greenery. She was happy for me to select a range of seasonal blooms to fit her brief and fall within the couple’s budget. After sharing lots of inspiration photos over email and over a coffee catch-up, it was a joy when the wedding day finally arrived. I gathered a range of David Austin and field roses, cosmos, pepper berry and dahlias and trailing asparagus fern for the slightly wild-looking bouquets, a romantic ceremony garland and vintage vessels which I scattered across the reception tables and fireplace with mercury vintage-style tea lights. It was a pleasure to create these whimsical flowers for a romantic wedding. A red velvet cake with vanilla buttercream icing and fresh flowers was the finishing touch for this beautiful occasion.
