Luxury Fashion Wedding Paris Editorial

Updated on 27 November 2019, Paris (Ile-de-France)

This project was 6 months of dreaming up and evolved out of a pure obsession of fashion from the late 60’s & 70’s. I imagined inspiration for the chic modern bride. After seeing an image of the wedding of Bianca and Mick Jagger, where she is wearing a big white hat, looking so stylish and chic. That look could be emulated by the modern decade, after all good fashion should be able to fit into any era with just a few changeable elements. It was decided on the use of a black and white colour block, which helped to create a bold silhouette to make a statement. Also these colours never go out of date and remain relevant, giving class and elegance. With the echoes of the eras gone by and with it all its magic, the only location that could represent the old and the new was timeless Paris. This is a couple with a taste for the avant-garde, illustrating the possibilities of planning a day where fashion takes the lead. Paris is full of magnetic cobbled streets and opulent landmarks, almost every corner had something to contribute. As a luxury destination photographer, with a want to create a dialogue for the daring couple. A couple looking for a more fashion-forward and statement big day. As a bride to be, I was seeing a lot of inspiration that targeted the romantic traditional bridal style but not everyone (including myself) can wear this style, so I wanted to create something that would inspire me. In reinventing the idea of the boudoir shot, I still wanted it to remain sexy and strong but I wanted to take it to another level. Just like with this shot taken on the rooftop of the Plaza Athénée, with the whole of Paris as my backdrop. Using Chanel as a source material, we dripped our model in gold jewellery, while wearing a black and white bathing suit. This was a nod to an image from Vogue of Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista wearing a Chanel swimsuit with statement jewellery. Sexy yet elegant. Jean-Charles created a stunning dining set up, here is what he had to say about the inspiration behind the execution. “I decided on a muted tone for the basis of the table by choosing a custom-made silk white table cloth, on which we used black to create a pop art, work of art, in tribute to icon Andy Warhol. Featuring bold handwritten calligraphy by Joy from studio blue. I wanted to make a statement while being elegant which is why we added all the luxury table ware with Dior chairs. The trendy couple looked classic yet modern and perfectly matched the styling of the table scape, they looked like a couple right out of the pages of Vanity Fair. The tablescape was inspired by the ancient Egyptian civilisation. With the colour scheme being black, white and gold. I wanted to add a strong central element that would pull it all together yet not take over the rest of the carefully curated pieces, so I had this idea of creating a gold solar centre-piece that would capture the lights and diffuse it all around. It was also inspired by the pyramids.”
