The goal of a wedding is marriage. And the purpose of marriage is for two people to become one. The point of being a husband or a wife is not only to fulfil each other’s needs, but also to enjoy being married. Now I work in an industry where the beginning of marriages is our business and personally, I love being able to inspire a great start. I’d tell the couples I meet that although they might fear the enjoyment of marriage will eventually decrease over time, speaking from experience after more than a decade of marriage, it all actually depends on whether or not you enjoy being married in the first place. When you’re committed in the relationship and when you make each other’s happiness your top priority, you will naturally make the effort to make each other happy every single day. I know you think that you’ll just cross the bridge when you come to it and start learning about how to enjoy your marriage when the euphoria of your wedding has subsided. I’d like to tell you that it’s never too early to start learning. There are volumes of books that have been written on the subject, pages of articles about marriage advice, and episodes after episodes of podcasts on the best relationship tips that you can browse through and look through at your disposal. To learn about strengthening your marriage and how to enjoy it is probably the best investment you’ll ever make for yourselves. For me, personally, to build habits that are simple enough to carry out for a long time is one of the best ways - such as, finding something to compliment every single day, to keep looking good, and to plan occasional surprises. From the moment you say “I do” start doing these things. You’d be surprised on how impactful these simple habits will be on your marriage.
