Stories before summer - The Pre-Wedding of Kelvin & Stephanie by Dodo
by Axioo

Updated on 21 February 2018, Melbourne (Victoria)

The first time I met the couple wasn’t during the photoshoot day. Of course, a stylist and I talked with the couple weeks before. But, the day before the D-day, there were some photoshoot errands to run, so I assisted the bride-to-be Stephanie to get everything done. Afterwards, the groom-to-be Kelvin took us to a really nice Thai food restaurant. They treated me not like a photographer they hired. They treated me like a friend. That lifted my spirits up, exactly like the feeling when I forked up my instant noodle and realized it’s not overcooked like dozens before (I finally can cook!). I wanted to give nothing but my best for them!   I called an early night so I can wake up fresh and full of energy. I even tidied up the Airbnb (where we’ll have a photo session at and also where I slept). I took out the trash. Gosh, it was so cold. I silently pat myself on my back for not going out wearing only my boxer but wearing my boxer with my jacket. I jogged back to the door, my fingers turning the not-moving cold doorknob. Wait. Why is the doorknob not moving? I remembered something my Airbnb host said about the door. A chilling realization crept up on my back: I LOCKED MYSELF OUT. I glanced at my phone, it’s already 10 PM and the battery’s only 5%. Oh. The horrors. Wearing only a jacket and a boxer, I ran to a convenience store, borrowed a charger, and called a locksmith. Long story short, the locksmith who looked like Zayn Malik did a simple trick with a yarn and told me to push the door. It cost me about 150 dollars. I was super pissed. Oh well, how else can I get Zayn Malik to pick my lock? Anyway, the photoshoot went well. We were relaxed. It was cloudy, but we managed to get the shots before it rained. I remembered not to get us locked out the Airbnb. It’s safe to say the photo shoot went smoothly. There’s only one hiccup. Kelvin’s skin was so sensitive, so Stephanie applied a lot of sunscreen on Kelvin’s skin. Even though the day was cloudy and the photoshoot was quick, Kelvin’s skin still couldn’t take it. A week after, Stephanie sent me pictures of Kelvin’s sunburn. It’s one of the worst sunburns I’ve ever seen. I got the feeling that Kelvin knew all along and he still went along with the outdoor photo shoot to make Stephanie happy. Sweet, aren’t they? Cheers, Dodo P.S. Thank you, Marlene for driving us for 2 hours all the way from Melbourne to Daylesford. Location: Melbourne, Australia
