Best beach wedding venue
We are so happy because we can celebrate our wedding dream in Sofitel. Thankyou sofitel bali :)
Great venue
We loved Nova, our sales person. She took good care of us.
Plus:
1.service (esp the butler service extremely competent & professional.. they made your life so much easier for the D day)
2. Food .. lots of menus to choose from & very flexible. I truly enjoyed the food tasting experience
3. Breakfast was great.. so many options, even the super healthy kind
4. Gorgeous location with back up plan in case it rains. And it did for us..
Minus:
1. No flexibility about the contract once it is signed .. for example reserved rooms.. go low cause they won't reduce it if your guests cancelled
2. Villa location for us is not as private.. guess its okay if you don't mind people in other hotel rooms can look at your villa and your private pool from their balcony? It is on the ground floor and next to the regular rooms which are 3-4 stories high.
Hope this helps. Happy planning
Pelayanan yang sangat memuaskan!
I was at first hesitant to get married here, because thou it is a 5-star hotel, there was no good review??
Sofitel Nusa Dua was originally out of my list for wedding venue. But my mom has too much requests for just the perfect spot to hold a wedding:
1. It has to be a 5 star hotel
2. It has to have good accessibility (not too far like Uluwatu, she said)
3. It has to be disabled-friendly (most wedding venues we saw that is beautiful is on top of a cliff)
4. It has to have an indoor-chapel
5. It has to accommodate an indoor/outdoor seating (if it rain, you gotta have a back up plan right)
6. Not too pricey
7. Not too ballroomy
8. Hotel has to be flexible, don't choose one that always has hidden extra charges
9. Has to have neighboring hotels for guests that is at least 4 stars
10. Has to be "new" and well-maintained.
And I think Sofitel is the only one that fulfill all of the above. The price is very affordable in comparison to many 5 star hotels I know in Bali. I was handled by Sofitel wedding assistants that changed 4 times throughout my wedding, and causing inconveniences to my wedding planner. The first-third assistant were not very accommodating, I've gotten no freebies, and it seemed like they didn't have good hand-overs in between, so there were miscommunication here and there regarding the wedding details.
I was so lucky to be handed over to Nova (my last wedding assistant) around 6 months prior to my wedding day. She is very professional, very generous with giving extras, she is detailed and strict (which is needed so that their party wont be pushed around), and her service is just above and beyond. She led her teams so well that everything went so smoothly before and on the wedding day. I can say it was beyond my expectation. She personally welcomes me and my groom when we arrived for food testing, for wedding prep, and even before we left, she was there at the lobby to say farewell.
I was super thrilled to have my wedding matrimony and reception in Sofitel, and would like to recommend Sofitel (and Nova) as a great wedding venue
Unprofessional wedding staff
We had a profoundly negative experience with the Sofitel Nusa Dua and would advise others to steer clear. I in fact did not want to write this (I don't like posting publicly as you can tell from my posting history) but unfortunately the staff seems unwilling to pass along the general manager's email and/or phone number so here we are.
MAJOR ITEMS:
1. Contract Issue I – Sofitel attempted to overcharge us in our contract by $4700 USD. Basically instead of using a spreadsheet with formulas they were just putting in numbers. When we caught this is was eventually rectified with no apology.
2. Contract Issue II – Probably the reason I'm writing this: two months after the wedding, the Sofitel decided to charge us for items in our contract that we had already paid for. This was due to an internal accounting issue of theirs. Nevertheless my credit card has just been charged millions of rupiah and the Sofitel refuses not only to rectify the problem but refuses even to respond. I had asked for the general manager's contact info and received nothing.
3. Contract issue III – for the above, they emailed me an invoice picture that included MY FORGED SIGNATURE and then proceeded to charge an invoice that included fake items (e.g. room service charges on a day we didn't order any room service). This really is the most distressing and unprofessional thing that the Sofitel has done. If you want the Sofitel to charge you hundreds, if not thousands, of extra dollars, then by all means sign up with them.
4. Charges around the Hotel – During the wedding weekend, we were told anecdotally by our guests that extra items kept popping up on food and drink orders around the pool and restaurants. We might anticipate this sort of occurrence around Kuta but certainly not at the Sofitel Nusa Dua
5. Final Bill – on the day we left we were asked to settle the final bill (no problem). We had asked for some time to review but were told that it had to be settled immediately. Given our past experience from the Sofitel's mathematical contract skills, and our guests' billing experiences, we wanted some time to review but decided anyway to conclude our business and be done, no matter the extra charge. At this point the final bill was settled. We were rewarded with an additional bill two months later of EXTRA frivolous charges.
6. Contract issue IV – they asked for us to book and pay for all of our reserved guest rooms up front, seven months before the wedding. Yes – the bride and groom were supposed to pay, half a year before the wedding, for guest rooms before anyone had confirmed and before guests had travel plans.
7. Bait and Switch Staff – after you sign the contract with the Sofitel they will pass you off to their most junior staff and you no longer have access to the seniors with whom you were originally speaking. We were originally covered by a very capable employee named Sessa. She disappeared. When we emailed her we received no response and when we asked about her the staff was vague. If she left the company, say so, and if you have a different coverage model that's fine too, but don't be shady about it. Having questions going unanswered for weeks while you're trying to plan a wedding is not helpful.
8. Empty promises – before we signed the contract we were told by Eboni, head of food and beverage, that the Sofitel worked with outside alcohol vendors but after signing the contract both Eboni and the existence of these vendors vanished.
Taken individually, one would assume good intentions for these actions and move on with no issue. Taken as a collection, it is difficult to see how the Sofitel Nusa Dua fosters a culture of integrity within their staff.
Again we would have wished to discuss all of this in private with the Sofitel general manager but the Sofitel has since stopped responding to our messages. As this is a public forum I would expect some sort of a rebuttal posted below. Consequently, please feel free to message me for email screenshots of any of the above points as I would not be surprised to read a different take of these actions posted below.
What a sad and unfortunate epilogue this has become.
