Dream wedding of Twinkle & George in Virtual Reality
by Vertex VR Weddings

Updated on 14 August 2017, Hong Kong

When Twinkle and George tied the knot earlier in March this year, the couple wanted to create a modern-day time capsule that would allow them to relive their big day. They hired us to capture 360-degree footage and turn it into something that virtually transports them back to that day. We attended the wedding and set up cameras at specific spots throughout the grounds. Then we compiled a highlight footage and released it online, so the couple could share it with anyone with access to a desktop computer, mobile phone or VR headset. A VR wedding lets you enjoy multiple angles from the reception, a walk down the aisle, a disapproving father in the first row, in a seamless panoramic view. It also lets the couple relive the experience. Imagine you had a grandmother who couldn’t make it to the wedding for some reason, now she could, with 360-degree VR headsets like a Google Cardboard. As a fully immersive medium, VR has the ability to completely shift how we tell stories. The ability to capture personal moments in VR is a trend that has been growing exponentially, particularly as 360 cameras are becoming mainstream. The results are phenomenal. "No matter how much we see it, there's always something we hadn't noticed before. These are things that would have gone unnoticed because we were so wrapped up in the moment, but it feels like a whole new day every time we step into the virtual environment. A 360 video allowed us not only to capture that viewpoint, but also to see guest reactions and the atmosphere in a way that would never be possible with ordinary video.”
