Galuh & Ilya AirWedding
by Tirtha Bali

Updated on 09 January 2020, Uluwatu

Galuh and Ilya met in Jakarta through a working relationship and started to hang out for coffee or dinner 6 months later. Galuh was working for a consulting firm and Ilya was working for its client’s company. The former finalist Miss Indonesia 2012 then moved to United Kingdom for her Master degree at Cambridge University. The two souls had a steadfast long-distance relationship and it got even more challenging when they decided to have a destination wedding. “During tough times we had ‘wedding free’ hours where we don’t talk about the wedding or anything related and just enjoy the rest of the day. It really calmed us down and helped with the wedding jitters.” she explained. They started to survey venues and compare one to another to find their perfect venue. “Seaside or Cliffside was mandatory. Because Ilya likes sea and I like sky” said Galuh. When they see the swiping view of the Indian Ocean and sky over Glass Stage, they just knew it was the one. Rustic and traditional touch highlighted the wedding decoration and favor. The guests were greeted by two flower girls dressed in Balinese costume who also assisting the couple throughout the ceremony. Galuh and Ilya also provided a Balinese headpiece “Udeng” for male guests and floral hairclip for the females. While having dinner, magician and Balinese dancers entertained the guests and made the night even more magical. It was a unique experience for the guests as many of them were travelling from another country. “It is a happy moment seeing our parents met for the first time and had a great time at our wedding” said Galuh reminiscing.
