//中西合拼 when east meets west\\ When Mr John Teo, the father of the bride, mentioned about Isabel's "reliable, considerate and caring" nature, I could recall my first meeting with Isabel and Neil at Wisma Atria. I was late for the meeting as I had medical appointment before the meeting and the appointment delayed at a public hospital. When I arrived at Wisma Atria, I apologised and told them about my delay at the hospital. But Isabel was very concerned and spoke about my injury I had. It was then, to my realisation, she was a medical surgeon and Neil was a military marine in Scotland. I was a recipient of their care, for my health and well-being, and was nodding in agreement with Mr John Teo at his speech. It was a true eye-opener to be part of Isabel's and Neil's big day as we were able to witness a traditional Chinese customary ceremony in the morning and was part of their western wedding celebration with a Chinese table setting. The lion dance is performed during auspicious occasions, also at the launch of new buildings, offices and shops, is believed to bring good fortune and wealth. Their wedding was also the first time we were able to witness the two playful lions capturing the 'cai qing' or literally "plucking the green", referring to the acrobatic act of picking up a sprig of lettuce. Isabel and Neil were also dressed in traditional Chinese costumes for the morning ceremony, giving their foreign guests a true taste of how a customary wedding is like in the Chinese culture. Isabel and Neil were blessed by the support of their families, when they embarked on the journey together as a dating couple, and now, living their married life happily in Scotland. As they embarked on their next chapter together as a married couple, I hope that they can continue to be so loving and caring towards each other, their loved ones and people around them.
