Johan & Sufi Engagement

One thing I love about being a fashion designer is meeting new people. There’s nothing more grand than being able to cross that client-designer relationship and becoming friends for life. This is the case with Sufi Huang. She learned about SZH Atelier from my instagram platform @siscazh. Back then, Sufi was engaged to be married and like the normal custom, they’d have a engagement ceremony in their hometown, Pontianak. Working with Sufi was such a pleasant experience. She gave me absolute control in picking the design, material, pattern, colors, and basically everything. As a designer, it’s nice to have a complete freedom in dressing your client. And for a client as kind-hearted and nice as her, I was committed to bringing her my best-est. Inspired by my favorite international designer, Zuhair Murad, I designed a full lace red dress for Sufi. Underneath the gorgeous red lace is the first layer of a mermaid dress in a basic color and a semi-train. The play on the collar is almost invisible while the short sleeves leave a lot to the imagination for the onlookers. The back of a dress is lined with long zipper from the bodice area down to the perfect end just right after the button. On the upper bodice to the back of her beck is a column of nude colored buttons as the finishing touch. I was glad that Sufi loved the dress. She also referred four of her lovely sisters to me. I think it’d be such a wonderful sight to see all 5 gorgeous ladies in my creations. Thanks so much Sufi, I wish all the best in your endeavor.
