When asked what he likes most about his wife, Jack is quick to note that “she’s cheerful and optimistic.” Xuefang on the other hand loves that Jack is dependable, which is her favorite quality. Both are Chinese internationals who are based in the mainland. Their decision to hold their wedding banquet in Singapore was for both sentimental and practical reasons. Jack used to study in Singapore when he was younger (for 8 years, since his early teens), so naturally he had quite a few Singapore-based friends. The reception was an elegantly simple yet chic motif of white and pink, accentuated by fairy lights for added charm, and a thoughtful “memento station” that featured the couple’s fondest memories in photos. Gatsby-esque feather tiers and satin wrapped flower gate lent a subtle 1920s nod to the décor, thanks to the tasteful styling of Rosette Designs & Co. For the first march-in into the grand Tower Ballroom of Shangri-La Hotel, Xuefang donned a light yet intricately-detailed white gown and a tiara. For the latter portion of the wedding banquet, she changed into a stunning red gown with a diamond-embroidered neckline and swooping back detail, which she got to show off during the traditional bouquet toss. The most poignant part of the wedding (at least to us) was when Jack honored the foster parents who looked after him during his study days in his youth. During the traditional Chinese tea ceremony, his emotions got the better of him and it brought him to tears (of gratitude, of course). His sincerity and gratitude reminded us of the importance of family and friends, which was the underlying theme of the celebration. It was a wedding where we were struggling to contain our tears, but of course we had to keep our composure (and have clear, non-misty eyes!) so that we could capture Jack & Xuefang’s most special day.
