Getting married in rainy season
oleh Supply and Demand

Diperbarui pada 15 November 2017

A Wedding in Bali…. in monsoon season! Monsoon season in Bali (or wet season as known locally) is generally from November until March. It is beautiful and lush during this time, often after a long period without rain, and locals think of this as the cleansing and rejuvenating of the Island. Many couples decide to get married during these months and a high percentage of these weddings are outdoors, which can be a challenge if bad weather hits! It doesn’t rain constantly and not every day, so you may be lucky and see only blue skies and beautiful sunsets during your wedding, but if the weather does turn bad and you are not prepared you may remember your special day for all the wrong reasons. There are precautions that can be taken in the planning stages to ensure you are ready for potentially bad weather, and so that everyone doesn’t panic if and when the sky turns grey. 1. Choosing your venue – Cliff and beachside venues will suffer more incoming harsh storm winds. `` 2. Try to choose a venue that can accommodate a ‘plan b’ for the dinner a least. The Ceremony can usually be moved if rain persists, but a sit-down dinner is hard to move. 3. Take the party inside! - Look for venues that can accommodate (and allow) an area that is indoors or semi-open and covered by a roof, to be used as a dancefloor area for DJ and/or band later. 4. Marquees – Consider that monsoon season rain can be harsh and often comes along with very strong winds. So if you plan to use marquee cover, make sure with your supplier or organizer that it will hold up to the weather conditions! Also ensure the marquee will have side covers, and check how long it would take to close the sides as there is no point in having a marquee roof if the rain is able to be blown in from the sides before you get the sides down. 5. If you have exposed areas, try to choose décor, furniture and production equipment that is able to withstand rain as much as possible. For example, Supply & Demand provide cocktail tables made of acrylic with light inside, so they are safe from rain but still provide some area lighting. We also provide some dining options that do not require cushions such as ghost and rustic chairs, so if you have a bit of a downpour the chairs can just be wiped down with a cloth and are ready to use again! There are also lighting options that are silicone - sealed, and can still operate in rain. Vision One Productions have festoon and vintage bulb lighting for dinner areas that are safe to operate in rain (www.vision1bali.com). 6. If you are set on an open-air wedding, Consider semi-outdoor venues. Some venues have large indoor/outdoor spaces that overlook beautiful views, but are still protected from the elements. Your Event Organiser should be able to point you in the right direction with regards to more suitable venues. 7. Have a ‘plan b’ setup for the key elements of your wedding, or what is most important to you. Of course every element of the event is important,
