We met when we were both a preschooler. We went to the same kindergarten and continue to go to the same elementary school. We weren’t close in all those years but we were friends. One night in grade 5, I received a call from Ray. We briefly spoke about school and some other pleasantries before he unexpectedly asked me if I wanted to be his girlfriend :D He was sweet and evidently nervous as his initial question to me was quickly followed with – “if you don’t want to be my girlfriend, can I be your best friend instead?” I remembered pacing in my room nervous, excited and flattered by the question all at the same time before I said yes to be his girlfriend – Priska, The Bride Looking back Ray was a super caring boyfriend whereas the 10 year old me at the time didn’t understand why Ray would call each day after school to ask how my day went, or why he would ask if I’ve eaten yet, or why he would update me on what he was doing/ where he was going *LOL* We broke up and not long after I found out I was moving to Hong Kong. Before I left, Ray went to our English teacher and asked her to help him write a goodbye love note to me. Once he finished it, He came by my house to deliver it along with a gift... We never saw each other for the next 15 years. I didn’t stay in Hong Kong for very long before I moved to Canada. Ray and I lost touch for a little while but in the last year of high school we came back and remained in touch. Even though we haven’t met each other for years, every time we do end up talking again, we always had a good conversation with each other. Talking to each other felt effortless, familiar and comfortable. During Winter Holiday, Ray came to visit me in Canada. Turned out it wasn’t simply a visit, in the months leading up to his visit he had planned to ask my dad for permission to marry me and with the help of some of my best friends, propose to me. I moved back to Indonesia in May, we had our engagement on July 2, 2017 and we got married on July 8, 2017.
