Matt & Su Jeong - Wedding
by I Love Bali Photography

Updated on 18 November 2017, Bali

History shows that South Korea and the US are close allies, and now the love affair between Matt Bears, an American citizen and Su Jeong Huh, a South Korean, brings this alliance to a higher level. A love story that transcends national and political boundaries. They live oceans apart, but fate brings the two souls closer and finally unites them. Matt works as a schoolteacher in Seoul, where he met Su Jeong. Their had a reciprocal feelings of love and both decided to seal their unity in a nuptial, but it was not supposed to be an ordinary nuptial: they wanted to make sure the wedding was something worth remembering in the years to come. And that is the reason why they chose to host a wedding reception in Bali. They wished to be wed in a tropical setting. Tropical Wedding in Bali, to be precise. And so they set out to seek the proper venue and a reliable wedding planner. A suitable wedding planner was available for them, so they worked together to agree on the right date and the perfect location: they wanted to stage the nuptial against a tropical and genuinely Balinese backdrop. They pictured some beach in their minds when they talked about some imaginary tropical locations. So they opted for a hotel situated near a beach. A hotel by the name of Bali Garden in Kuta meets the criterion. In addition to its seaside location, the hotel also boasts a looming Balinese gapura (gateway). True to its namesake, the hotel is set amid a vast garden. The area is surrounded by countless trees and shrubs, what a perfect location for a wedding photo session. For the wedding reception they only invited a select number of people: some close relatives and intimate friends from the US mainland and South Korea. 30 guests in all. But simplicity of their wedding scenario belied the monumental tasks involved in the whole preparation process. Matt and Su Jeong had chosen to be clad in white wedding dress. Su Jeong looked irresistibly sweet in her gown; she was the perfect epitome of a Korean top artist. So their wedding took place on a spot near the beach as planned. They were momentarily alarmed by whirls of dark clouds hovering above, but thankfully there was no rain. The wedding altar stood firm on the sand, a wedding celebrant stood by, ready to preside the entire procession. One by one guests arrived and were ushered to their reserved seats. Matt arrived and approached the altar, waiting for Su Jeong. Within moments Su Jeong came into sight, walking gracefully in the company of her dear father. Her face was radiant upon seeing Matt standing by the holy altar. The celebrant started the wedding sacrament. He chanted a few words then he instructed Matt and Su Jeong to declare their respective vows of love and the ceremony concluded with the long awaited sight of the couple putting the wedding rings on their beloved finger. The best of luck with your new life, Matt and Su Jeong! You rock! I Love Bali Photography ~ Bali Wedding Photographer
