Upon meeting Gina and James, our immediate impression was how unique their relationship was. Despite their apparent differences in personality, they seemed very much well-suited. Gina was bubbly and had an openness to her while James was more reserved and soft-spoken, yet when we mentioned something that sparked his interest, it would seem as if he traded personalities with Gina. Gina enjoyed all things ethnic and traditional culture such as Batik and Straits-born Chinese. On the other hand, James was more into Wes Anderson films and was against having their invitation seem too feminine. Since both were keen on each of their ideas, we decided to incorporate both and came up with a "If Wes Anderson made a movie in Malacca" concept. A quirky combination of Straits-born Chinese culture and Wes Anderson's whimsy style.
