When it comes to the wedding party, the DJ plays an essential role in the night's festive atmosphere. From the moment it starts, the DJ sets the tone and tempo of the evening, creating and maintaining a rhythm for the rest of the night. So before you book a wedding DJ, these are things you need to consider.

1. Whether the DJ has the style that suits yours

While you might have a slightly different style than other brides, you might want to find the right DJ that has the closest style to yours. This would make it easier for him or her to meet your demands. Some DJs prefer to talk a lot and lead the night; some won't even talk at all. Some are strictly sophisticated; some insist on being the life of the party. So in terms of choosing the right DJ, make sure you start off right.

2. Whether the DJ has the music you absolutely love

This is absolutely important. For the perfect party that totally reflects you, make sure the DJ specializes in the music that you want. Not every DJ can play different types of music; while DJs with various music range are usually more expensive because they have to be more knowledgeable and deal with the higher cost of purchasing many more songs. So decide your favorite songs, and go from there.

3. Whether the DJ has the set or flexible music program

Does he or she take requests? Does he or she alter the music depending on the mood? As always, this is completely up to you. Get the DJ do it your way!

4. Whether the DJ has the right equipment for your event

Some DJs have the equipment only for large events. Working with DJs will depend on the approximate guests you'll have. It's also important whether event is indoors or outdoors or both. Some important questions: will equipment have to be moved from one place to another during the event, and can the DJ's equipment accommodate your party?

5. Whether the DJ has enough experience

Some people might think that experience trumps skills—it's perfectly understandable if you share this thought. You might want a DJ who is experienced with unexpected last-minute changes, twists, and unexpected turns that often come up. A good DJ can smooth over potential awkward moments.
