Surprise Lake Bled Marriage Proposal

There are few destinations in the world more suited to a romantic proposal than Vila Bled. Located on the banks of Lake Bled, Slovenia’s most picturesque destination, Vila Bled was the perfect fairytale setting for Simon’s magical proposal. Vila Bled is a luxurious boutique hotel with beautiful grounds that finish at the shores of Lake Bled. When Simon called to share his ideas for his surprise proposal at Vila Bled, I was really excited. Simon already had clear thoughts about some of the things he wanted Blazka to experience on the day. He asked for Blazka to have: a private makeup artist, a hairstylist, a photographer and videographer, pretty florals, and two dresses for the occasion. The rest was up to me – I couldn’t wait. Dating back to the 15th century, Vila Bled is part of the infamous Brdo Estate. Home to numerous aristocrats over the centuries, the Vila Bled mansion has hosted countless global dignitaries, including Queen Elizabeth II, Pope John Paul II, Elizabeth Taylor, and George Bush. A ROMANTIC VILA BLED ENGAGEENT Thinking they were at Vila Bled for an indulgent dinner to celebrate their fourth anniversary, Blazka was visibly shocked and lost for words when Simon got down on one knee to propose in the most romantic spot on the site. The magic of the moment was topped with a beautiful boat ride across the lake, from the shores of the hotel’s exclusive beach. Set for dinner for two, the private location looked spectacular. Decorated with statement florals in neutral blush tones, candles, and petals, the glorious spot had magnificent views across Lake Bled and on to dazzling Bled Castle, high up in the hills beyond. With the sweet sounds of a violin accompaniment from their own violinist, the couple enjoyed an intimate dinner for two, finished with Bled cream cake and more champagne. After the meal, Simon and Blazka had an unforgettable evening together, dancing alone under the stars, surrounded by candles and the sounds of the waters lapping at the shore.
